Some Facts & Figures from the past 5 years.

2010 Facts & Figures

797 children and young people (8-18) and 39 parents* living in the East and West End of Newcastle benefitted from our one-to-one tutoring/befriending programme and from acquiring skills in our clubs, workshops and summer schools with the following outcomes:
91% success rate(8-16)  in staying in education,
83% success rate (16+) in gaining access to higher education, training or apprenticeship,
45% success rate (16+) in finding a job

289 people volunteered for us*  as peer tutors/befrienders, as project leaders running clubs and workshops, as web developer, as volunteer coordinator, as youth worker, as bookkeeper, as administrator, as marketing & promotion manager, as fundraiser, as bid writer, with the following outcomes:
165 references  were written to support job, training and higher education applications,
55 known that were rewarded with a job,
34 known that were rewarded with access to further training or higher education,
90 received 50+ or 100+ hours certificates from V-Volunteering,
15 have gained accreditation (AQA Level 3 + OCN Level 3) for their volunteering placement since becoming a recognised training centre in 2010
an approximate 8670 hours (based on average of 30hrs@volunteer) were given selflessly in the past 5 years by our volunteers to help build a successful future for all.

We have been running 2 Learning Hubs continually for the past 5 years for a secondary school and a community centre.
We have been working in a further 11 schools, 3 libraries, 2 community centres and 1 university delivering 21 clubs & workshops, 5 summer schools, one-to-one tuition and intensive revision days.

We have been offering language clubs and one-to-one tuition in the following languages: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Greek, Turkish, Chinese and Japanese.

We managed three youth-led art projects: making wooden African games, making glass mosaic entrance panel for a community centre and wooden wall hangings for a new school building.

We are an approved provider of the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (2008)
We are a recognised centre for AQA and OCN North East (2010)
We are an approved provider for alternative education with Newcastle Children’s Services (2010)
We are an approved training provider for the Skills Funding Agency (2011)

Our services have been part of an OFSTED inspection in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and part of the Joint Area Review by Children Services of Newcastle City in 2007
